Building a Conduit to the Future: Planning for Growth and Blessing – Part 10
Our last discussion explored the importance of systems and support in building a thriving life. A strong system relies on channels connecting everything, whether in life or construction. These channels—conduits—are essential for future access and expansion. Today, let’s delve into the practical and metaphorical aspects of conduit planning, from futureproofing for growth to becoming a conduit of generosity.
Thinking Ahead: Are You Creating Enough Conduits? In construction, we install extra conduits to accommodate future needs, whether for technology upgrades, wiring additions, or powering new equipment. The same concept applies to life. Are you intentionally planning for future opportunities? If life throws you an unexpected challenge or blessing, will you have the capacity to manage it?
Think about it this way: the conduit you lay today can be filled later with capacity and connections you might not yet foresee. Preparing for future needs makes space for what’s to come—even the unknown. Adding an extra conduit might feel unnecessary now, but it’s an investment in your ability to adapt and grow.
Conduits of Generosity: Blessings to Give and Receive: Beyond physical needs, conduits can be vessels for intangible qualities like generosity. Consider being a conduit for others, a way to share blessings, kindness, and wisdom. When you open yourself up as a “conduit of generosity,” you create pathways that benefit not just yourself but everyone around you.
Ask yourself: What am I passing through the conduit of my life? Is it encouragement, knowledge, or financial support? Generosity acts as a conduit that multiplies goodness, enabling the people around us to thrive. And remember, just as a conduit in construction allows future additions, generosity often creates lasting connections, establishing trust and goodwill that can support future relationships and opportunities.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
– Paul The Apostle
To Future-Proof Effectively:
Assess the load: What demands could the future bring, and are you preparing for them?
Choose strong, reliable tools: Are you equipping yourself with resilience, skills, and networks that won’t easily degrade?
Mind the bends and curves: Limit unnecessary complications in your path. In conduit work, too many bends make pulling cables harder or impossible. The same goes for life. Keep a clear path toward your main goals and avoid unnecessary distractions that can limit your progress.
Stay Focused on the Objective: Focus is critical to effective conduit planning. In construction, we avoid excessive bends—no more than four quarter-bends in any single conduit—because extra turns complicate the process. Similarly, staying focused on your main objectives, the ones aligned with your core values, keep your life conduit clear and direct.
What is your main objective? Is it to build a legacy, serve others, grow spiritually, and leave a lasting impact? By keeping this in focus, you can make intentional decisions about what to include, exclude, or defer, ensuring your conduit remains uncluttered and directed toward your ultimate purpose.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”
– King Solomon
Every conduit, whether in construction or in life, serves as a path to the future. It represents what we’re preparing for and how we’ll get there. Building these channels thoughtfully—whether for generosity, future growth, or personal resilience—creates the infrastructure for a life that’s adaptable, blessed, and focused on the main objective.
What will you build today that will provide access to growth, blessing, and purpose in the days to come?
